"Kid Cudi is one of the artists who gave young Black kids like myself permission to feel and be open about what we’re feeling, even if that openness felt like something that could only be shared between a pen and paper."
Ahhh I love this so much. I've been a Kid Cudi fan forever and this article makes me feel seen in my adoration and the reasons why. I also always loved that he was born and raised in Ohio (Cleveland).
Cleveland is the reason!!! Got to see Cudi perform at his festival in CLE in a few years ago, and it was beautiful seeing the city rally around him. I appreciate you reading and sharing, and I’m glad I’m not alone 😊
I’ve seen Cudi twice. Once as freshman in college 2010 and last year at Something In the Water. Cudi is such a passionate, fun artist. I can tell that each show is like a war cry of such. Thank you for writing this. The fact that Cudi saw it himself is just so sweet.
I’ve seen him twice now too! That performance at Divide and then at Cudi’s festival in Cleveland a few years ago. SITW had to be dope. His joy feels so visceral because we know his struggles. That war cry is earned. I appreciate you reading and sharing. Grateful to meet another Cudi fan 🫶🏽
I feel all of this bro:
