I didn’t know you were “from” North Carolina! Me too, sort of — I mostly grew up in Greensboro (hi 336) until college. Sad I missed Crazy Fire because I had to have driven past it plenty 😭

Omg no way, shoutout to Greensboro! It was a luxury for us to drive to Greensboro to get Chipotle bc we didn’t have one in Burlington lol

lmao rising from the dead two weeks late to say !!!! what year were you/your friends? I haven't been back since I graduated in 2013 but it's been long enough that the space between here and there feels less deliberate and more nostalgic. It was the strangest place I've lived!

They all would’ve started in 2012 and most graduated in 2016! It’s a weird funny place lol

This reminded me of a spot in Buffalo I use to eat at all the time called Rachel’s in undergrad. You ever eat something so much, people look at you like how can you still eat that after 4 years. Me: “Watch me.”

What kind of spot was it???

Mediteranean!

I love me some Mediterranean food. I still go back to Elon at least once or twice a year, and there are so many spots we always try to visit. But Cook Out is the one that always makes my mom go “seriously?”

This is bringing me back to my undergrad hibachi place, Fire & Ice, in Boston. Thankfully, it’s still there despite all these years of me taking it for granted and never returning. But the establishments no longer with us? Like damn, time for me to write an ode to my lost loves that have transformed into Chipotles and Cavas 👆🏽😔 Another beautiful essay, Alex!

Long live the hibachi restaurants. They will always be famous. Real talk, though. I don’t even know what Crazy Fire is now. My mom lives back in my college town now, and I always get sad when we drive past the place where Crazy Fire used to be. Thank you so much for making time for this one ❤️

Say man I’ve been through Burlington many times and never thought much about it. You certainly gave it its flowers. Sad I missed out on Crazy Fire.

Thank you, dude. Looks like there’s still one in Raleigh if you find yourself there anytime soon.
