Happy birthday!! 😊 no better way to go down memory lane than through the music of your life. Your comment on how Usher dances in the rain to Burn made me laugh because he dances dramatically in the rain to U Remind Me 😂 what an era
Thank you so much! My wife and I were actually just talking about wanting to see them when they come to town this summer. Some of my favorite Avett shows are when I lived in Colorado and got to see them at Red Rocks a few times.
My wife and I saw them at Red Rocks too. We lived in Denver for a couple years. I’ve seen them in concert 2nd most, which I love. The number one spot is Lupe Fiasco, which is weird, but many of those were by accident, lol.
That’s amazing! What years you were in Denver? And Lupe in the top spot is amazing. Recently, I saw a clip of Lupe bringing Tyler, The Creator on stage for “Paris, Tokyo” and it made me so happy. Tyler rapped every word like I would have done.
We could’ve been at the same show in 2014! I was interning in Colorado that summer, and the show we went to ended up being super rainy. We were soaked when we left.
Alex, happy belated birthday! Thank you for sharing so vividly your love for each song. I am so happy for you being able to see Stevie Wonder in concert. What a gift!
White by Frank is the biggest pleasant surprise on this list for me because that is also my favorite non-channel orange or blonde song lol😂 close second is Voodoo
First off, @AlexLewis Happy Birthday. I feel really lucky to have met you this year and share space with you as a Hip hop lover, and writer. You're cool as hell and I enjoy your writing. Secondly, I love this posts! Bro, I can relate to so many of these songs. I might have to copy your swag for next week!
Yes. I'm a little older than you so most of the 2000's songs you have here are my middle school and high school days so they are very impactful. Especially thinking of that Ginuwine, Pop, the Big Boi, the Usher. I mean, basically 50% of them.
Oh yeah, those are the formative years. Creating core memories with those songs. Man, I wish I could feel what you were feeling hearing those songs for the first time.

wait no he just dances in puddles 😭 what a wasted opportunity
Why do we keep associating him with rain???? But thank you, I appreciate the birthday wishes!!
I love many of the songs on this list and they take me back. I was so happy to see the Avett Brothers make an appearance! Happy belated birthday!

Yes! We were definitely at the same show. I remember the rain. The parking garage lot is so far from the venue that you couldn’t help but get soaked.
Yes!!! Omg small world

2014-2016 in Denver. I’ll have to find that clip.
